Anderson Residence

The design for the Anderson residence comes from the cyclical being of nature - growing, building, and taking up space before slowing down and curling up into its roots to return to the earth. This journey is humble, imperfect, and slow; yet expansive. Like a well-loved metal patinating over time, nature becomes more beautiful; an expression of love and fulfillment. The space will age and develop throughout its life just as the users do, using natural materials and finishes that ground the space and fill it with warmth. The organic patterns within the materials will be complemented by strong rectilinear forms to instill a calming presence in the space. As the kitchen provides a central hub for the family to grow and evolve, it will emulate that growth through the beauty of age.
